Snowtober.
December 20, 2011 Oh goodness how time flies! I remember asking friends and family while I was still pregnant if they thought it would be too soon to take Pax to the country two weeks after he was born. I thought it would be nice for the three of us to spend some time bonding outside of the noise of the city. I figured Pax would be doing a lot of the same thing (feeding, sleeping and having his diaper changed) but was a little intimidated about changing locations since it was all so new. It turned out to be a breeze, but little did I know we'd be dealing with a huge, unexpected snowstorm in October complete with lost power! Here is a photo story from the weekend...
Getting cozy waiting for the snow to arrive...

A pre-snowstorm visit from our friend Laura who brought Pax a darling vintage rocking horse and cardigan...

We've always thought the house was a little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and this is proof! This showed up on Pax's first weekend in the country so it has a little extra sentiment...

The city girl gets to work stacking wood in preparation for Snowtober...

One minute fall foliage, next minute winter wonderland...

In anticipation of lost power, we were hunkered down in front of the wood-burning stove in the center and oldest part of the house. We opened the door to grab more wood and I quickly snapped this photo to capture the moment. It was pure magic.

PAX!!!

Pax's first glimpse of snow...

A few little snowflakes on our baby's nose...

The morning comes and we are without power...

The clouds clear to bluebird skies and the snow begins to melt to reveal the last of the fall foliage and send us a reminder that our snowstorm romance must come to an end and we must head back to our city...

Dear Trey & Jill & Pax, what a beautiful photographic essay of your first weekend in the country.
So sorry that I missed that first real snowfalll, which arrived days after we left for India.
But what a treat for me to get to meet PAX before leaving-- such a lovely peaceful being
truly PAX ON EARTH.
You are both doing supremely well caring for him. A month after this on my second visit
it was clear that he is thriving, and so are you!
Gosh he will probably be crawling by the time we return in the spring.
Looking forward to following his every move, X"OXLCC
